Definately a foot rest. It sounds like a small thing, but a foot rest makes a world of difference for your lower back after several days of several hors in the stand.

I take granola barsor peanut butter sandwiches to eat and either water or apple juice to drink. I think any smell that might be picked up by deer would only encourage them to come in.

I've got my stand up, but I hunt on private land. Four of the stands stay up all year round. The other three I put up a few weeks ago. My opening day is Oct 1. (The 7 stands are for 4 hunters)

I try to sit & stand for 20-30 minutes at a time, so when I'm ready to sit, it sure does feel good. I also use an extra cushion or make the one I use better.

I'm glad that I can hunt on Sundays here in Michigan. I feel sorry for hunters with 9-5 Mon-Fri jobs in those states that can't hunt on Sundays. One day a week to hunt???
