I have processed my game my entire life. Bone it out, cut into steaks and roast with a filet knife, neck meat and scaps for stew meat or grind it up for hamburger.

I have always used a paper mache, it tends not to shrink as much as putty. I also use felt as a cover and cut my own bases with my band saw.
