Rust removal

I have a small spot of rust on my barrel. How can I get rid of it? I want to know if its ok to use fine steel wool without having to re-blue the barrel, or if anybody has any other ideas.

Ive shot a few deer this way and have had them not go more than 10 yards. However I do agree with JagMag on the close range shots you are going to have fragment and expansion problems.
