We use shotguns all the time for cats, and yotes. Depending on 12 or 20 we use 4's on up. I highly suggest using the Hevi-Shot turkey loads. Man do they pack a punch. Have knocked down yotes at 80...

I use and really like the Sport Dog models. Currently am using the 3200 four dog mdel with a 2 mile range. Works great!! A nice thing about them is the electrodes can be taken out without the unit...

Tandrhunts- I agree with you on the whole ear thing, that is a good guideline. I have to beg to disagree on my pics though. Like I said I have been up close and personal a few times with this bear....
