Man I really hope the big 8 made it through our gun season... I would love to get a crack at him next year without the broken tine!.. the first buck would be great too!

Ruger 10/22 is a very good choice.. accurate.. and can get plenty of accessories for it.... picked mine up for around $180..
that being said.. I had an old lever action single shot Ithica 22 along...

Hmm.. I do not know what they go for used.. but I do know the msrp is $900 new... and just today I was at a local gun shop and seen a usedaRem 700 .243with $725 on the tag.

The land I hunt has dogs running loose... the owners dogs.. and their neighbors dogs come into the woods... and on occasion chase the deer off... do i shoot them? easy answer.. NO... dogs are dogs...

Yep.. a 410 slug will do the job! that is exactly what my son used to get his first deer this year. at close to 50 yrds with a mossberg 505 .410 pump... modified choke,3 in. slug he put it right thru...

In Ohio we cant use rifles.. so our choice regardless of where we hunt is shotgun, muzzle loader or certain hand guns.. I like to use a handgun when I know im going to be in heavy brush... much...

I had a doe groan a few years ago.. my shot.. went thru both shoulders rendering her front legs usless.. she pushed her self into the brush groaning the hole way.. expired in the brush a few minutes...

yes.. I used some handy line to get the antler he broke off.. it was intact.. broke right off the skull.. this morning.. the guy who took the deer.. brought me the other half.

Buck in a Barge!

Today was a dayof firsts... I am working midnights (7 pm to 7 am) on a towboat.. Last night.. I pick up a empty barge..well.. not quite emty..it had a 8 point buck in it!! it apparently had jumps off...
