I had one in 243 and after working on it a little to make sure the fit was just right (had to shim the pivot point with a little aluminum foil??) it shot my handloads that were just off the lands...

Had a 250 gr .452 SW blow up in a turkey. It entered at the base of the neck and I found pieces all through the body on the far side. I never thought it would even expand much as it zipped through.

I have heard of loads as low as 40 gr of t7 3f being used on deer out to 100 yards with no trouble, but I think for me I would look at 60 gr of t7 2f being the lowest I would go with a 240 or 250 gr...

With slugs, which are much slower, recoil and how the gun reacts to it will affect POI more than with a centerfire at close range. I would not use a device like a lead sled to sight in anything. It...

RE: 00 or 000 buckshot?

I have used buckshot extensively, as a county I hunt in used to require it. That being said, I would not use it if I did not have to. I have killed numerous deer with both 00 and 000, and think the...

RE: Thinking of using crazy glue for vanes

I use Loctite Gel, after years of trying almost everything else on the market. Had good luck with others, just like to spend less for a great product. This is on the vanes or feathers only, and with...

While that may or may not be true, the Constitution does not come out and say you have a right to ammunition or components, or that theycan'tbe registered. The politicians now have a way to pass new...

RE: BackHorn 209..."Just a Gimmick?"

Wow, I had been shooting t7 in my omega, but BH209 was much cleaner and slightly more accurate. Thereal selling point about it is I don't have to clean my muzzy for the whole season (2weeks)....

RE: Mossberg 695-opinions wanted

I have had one for several years now. It is a good gun, although the safety is a rotating switch on the back of the bolt and is not easy to get to with a low mounted scope. I have tried several types...

RE: Rossi?

I have one of their Miniloaders in .45 ss(for my daughter...) and it is a fairly accurate gun. It likes heavy sabots (240 gr PR bullets) and will shoot well under and inch CTC at our 50 yard range....

RE: Anyone Hunt With 200 grain SSTs

It is the same bullet, but with a different color tip. Hornady makes them for TC. The 200 gr is only offered in the .45 cal line from hornady, but if you buy a couple of packs it might be cheaper to...

RE: Anyone Hunt With 200 grain SSTs

I really like the bullet, it has a good BC and seems to hold together well, although I am only shooting it at about 1900 fps. I would love to see a 225-240 gr sst in .40 cal. That would be my go to...

I would also suggest looking for a Traditions Yukon in that range. I just got one and it seems to be a solid rifle for around $150. It felt better to me than the Wolf, about the same as the...

RE: .45 sabots w/.40 Barnes Expanders on Sale

They also have 350 gr keith nose lead for $0.25 (w/o sabots). Don't know exact diameter or qty, but they show 10 of them in the pic with green sabots (.430?). Sounds like a great bullet for the price.

RE: ***URGENT VIRGINIA HUNTING DOG OWNERS***

Hokieman,

Perhaps you didn't read the post, or perhaps I was not clear. The game warden has been out several times (due to our calls), but has not stopped them from doing what they were doing.

RE: Hornady SST's

Hodgdons guide puts you right about 1650 fps with 2 pellets. At a MPBR of 6" (+/- 3") you would be good to just over 160 yards (with 1107 fpe at 160 yards). Wind drift at 160 is almost 7" with a 10...

6.5 Grendel or 6.8SPC, but I would pick the Grendel if you reload. Otherwise, the 6.8 may be more available.

RE: Muzzleloader or shotgun?

Take a look at Sportsmans Guide. They had a .45 cal CVA Kodiak Pro (similar to the TC Omega) in stainless for about $150. If you are open to the .45, that looked like a great deal.

RE: Muzzleloader or shotgun?

The Wolf is known as one of the fastest rusting muzzleloaders. If you get that one I would suggest using Blackhorn 209 (new non-corrosive muzzy powder) in 80-90 grain charges. That will work very well...
