If the peak of the rut is 10 days away, you need to just find a well used trail (or intersection), or a good funnel. This will be the time when the bucks are cruising lookin for the first hot does....

If you want hard numbers, 5"-7" . Mow it down to that level every so oftenand it will continue to be healthy and the competition will be limited.

Thanks, habitat, hadn't thought about thebugs, but I guess it'll be pretty hot. I can deal with the mousquitos, but how should one prepare for ticks?
