The last world recored grizzly bear was shot with a 22lr so I think it can be done, but I would rather shoot a 12 ga. single shot with slugs.

What about the 243? With Winchester 95 gr. Supreme Elite you reach 3100 fps. so you have high velocity high gr. more nock down,and you don't need to pick the best day in the world to go shoot coyots.
