RE: how to start hunting birds

Be careful...it's addictive! It starts out as a fun and the next thing you know you've put your car in the ditch because you were scanning a corn field for roosters and you can't afford to get it...

RE: Tristar Brittany Shotguns

Thank you Scott! I guess that's what I was hoping to hear. I still would have thanked you though even if you would have told me they were junk.

Tristar Brittany Shotguns

Does anybody have any experience with or knowledge about the Tristar Brittany? I've asked a couple of people I know about them in the past and they told me if I'm looking in the $800 price range,...

RE: CVA

I've got the Optima Elite as well. Like most rifles out there it's a lot more accurate than I am. I'm wondering if anyone can tell me where I might find a good deal on a centerfire barrel for it?

RE: best rifle for around $500

I know they're not for everybody, but some people (myself included) really love the accu-trigger on the Savages. I bought a Weather Warrior 7mm-08 a few months ago and couldn't be happier. Good luck.

RE: scope

I just did quite a bit of shopping for a scope myself. All the scopes people brought up above are very good, but for my amateur eyes the Nikon Prostaff is definately in the same league and costs...

Tree stands

I need to buy myself a hang-on tree stand. My number one concern is safety. I am 6'5'' tall and I weigh about 285. Almost all of the stands I've been looking at say they're good for up to 300 lbs. My...

RE: Model 94 Question

You've got me there...the flatter shooting cartridge that carries enough energy far enoughis really the only requirement for those kills. There's a difference between shotsI'd even attempt in the...

RE: Model 94 Question

I don't know that I'dsay the 30-30has a "mortar like trajectory". There are quite a few guys in our hunting party who have put deer down at 200 plus yards since the LeverRevolution rounds became...

double barrel shotgun thoughts

I'm looking for a new grouse gun. My first priority is keeping the weight as low as possible and the second is not having to sell one of my children to get the money to buy it ($500 is my top end)....

RE: 243 win.

Thanks guys...I noticed you both mentioned Remingtons but I'm looking more ata Savage - I think the length of pull is a little longer which seems to fit me better (I'm a pretty big guy). I'm...

RE: 243 win.

Thank you Hawkeye...valuable feedback. I was leaning toward the 7mm-08 and I think I've made up my mind. I should say I thought I'd made up my mind - a local gun shop has a used BAR in great shape...

RE: 243 win.

How about a comparison between the 243 and the 7mm08...this is the decision I'm struggling with right now. The rifle will be used for hunting whitetails in MN. I never knew how recoil sensitive I was...

RE: Help me choose

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the input.

The Nitrex is a somewhat new scope from the parent company of Federal Ammo. The only review I've seen said it was supposed to compete with the Nikon...

Help me choose

I'm new but I've been reading posts here for a long time. I'm getting a new scope and I'd like to get some opinions on which of the following is the best buy:

Nikon Prostaff 3-9-40 for $170,...
