Shooting muskrat and beaver in Md. is illegal. Besides, you damage the hide. Check your trapping laws. It may be illegal in your state also. It is also dangerous, bullets will ricochet off of water.

What kind of animal are you trapping? What kind of set are you useing? Coon will some times den up for a couple of days in bad weather, Fox will keep hunting. Recommend you wait till after the snow.
