I'd choose the .243,or the .270. Heard of .224 cals catch some moose too. Well, my ruger 77/22 caught a moose one shot, if you know the behind the ear trick, so no damaged meat!!!

There's a remington 140 gr safari grade ammo should do good on bear.

I had the winchester .223 ranger with a BSA 6-24x50 contender scope and it never let me down, just say shoot the whiskers,that's how accurate it was. And all for under 500 bucks. Seen that 5.56 ammo...

I just bought a .17 hmr from my uncle after I used it, it's a remington .17 hmr mag. auto, when I shot it the first round fired, and while it reloaded the bullet didn't go into the chamber, got stuck...
