I received new launcher arms in the mail today... the 3rd generation variety. I took the Hostage off and slapped the Whammy back on and am happy to report that these new launcher arms do...

Hmmm...

I'm not an experienced archer, but as an engineer I do not buy that at all. The deep V provides a more horizontal ledge for the arrow to rest on when the bow is turned at steep angles....
