shoot a recurve for 2 weeks, then go back to the compound and you'll be tickled to death with the incredibly easy accuracy you have with it

elkhuntinut at high altitude, you sweat and use water and never realize because it evaporates quickly. Drink every opportunity you get. Eat the way your body needs you to.

OHbowhntr do the best you can do. If you can lose even 5 pounds between now and your hunt, that will help your body/knees too (unless you're already in the <10% body fat area) ... lose 10,15 pounds...

You can't discount cardio and running is the best gauge I've ever found for it. Best you can do is plan around it - maybe in a semi-mountainous area instead of the 12,000 feet vertical tough places...

OHbowhntrI've solo backpacked into Colorado wilderness several times, backpack hunted witha partner quite a few other times, archery and black powder and I've been very successful in every aspect.

the biggest advantage with a 3 piece TD is (A) the ability to have 2 sets of limbs 5#'s in weight difference and (B) ease of packing it around (having backpack hunted a lot I appreciate that facet)

If you want to bowhunt, use a recurve or longbow. Compounders wanting their easy while keeping crossbows out of general archery season are hypocrites beyond belief. Only real bowhunters bowhunting...

I bought 28 Thunderhead 160's on EBAY with 100 or so extra dull blades.

Nothing sharpens those - any Lansky/Smith type just doesn't hit the angles perfectly and consistantly.
