sure there are better calibers for specific uses, such as .338 for grizzly and 25-06 for antelope; but all around one-rifle-only, I would consider the 30-06. I've killed elk, moose, bear and deer...

Any of the weaponry mentioned will work fine. Take the animal with respect. It survives in a harsh environment every day and has earned the respect. True hunters understand that.
