RE: Gas Prices hindering hunting?

I go right out the back door to hunt also, but I do set aside 5 extra dollars a week for future trips that use gas. What about these people that are forced to put gas on a credit card, 3 plus dollars...

RE: Whats the best camo pattern at 50 yards?

Grizz...I've seen those Nat Gear ads, I've never seen them in the woods..live. They've always intrigued me with the " deer colors".

RE: ruff score maybe age?

Without a decent broadside pic I'd say in the 4-5 range @ 130-140. That deer aging on the hoof is a tough business for me, I'm in treestands (observing) our herd starting in MAY-SEP so I can see...

RE: 10 reasons why I only use one stand all year

I tag out every year with my (6) fixed. I wouldn't move them, or hunt any other propertyuntil I run out of deer, and that "ain't" likely before I go.

RE: Rifled Slug shotguns

as a rule for me undersized slugs fly a little better with a bit of a choke, but what you are asking for is Bear Defense, and that would be the "heaviest slug" I could get. Check out Deltaforce.com's...

RE: Self Defense handgun help. -NO LEGAL ADVICE NEEDED!-

Thats a beaut, my friend. Oh and for some legal advice...."Don't park in Handicap spots." It pisses them off. :)

RE: what is a magnum shotgun shell?

Read the barrel, it will tell you exactly what to shoot. 3" Mag or both, or it will read 2 3/4" only.

RE: Shotgun/Rifle in truck back window?

I'd rather not give away any advantage I may have to anyone. I'd rather be thought of as the underdog, works for me.

RE: What is the strangest thing

A guy actually living some 3-4 miles from any road. I went back the next day with my Duffle full of food, vitamins, tabacco, and lighters. I never went back, it was kind of sad.

RE: Rifled Slug shotguns

I like my .444 Marlin for that, but I heard the 45/70 is better for hand loaders. Me, I don't hand load. If I'm in a face to face Bear type situation, 12 ga. 3" MAG slug is my first choice all day.

RE: Bow Camo?

A camo pattern to me doesn't really make a difference, but something that shines or is of a bright color certainly does. Dull or flat is the best, I don't want "any" high gloss finish on anything I...

RE: Dumbest hunting item you have ever bought?

RE: best broadheads?

I really can't say with any education which broadhead is the best, because I've "only" used "Thunderheads", not once have I encountered a problem. Why fix it if it isn't broke.

RE: Do you plan to ever shoot a monster buck?

So I'm curious how many hunters plan/expect to shoot a monster buck in their lifetime.Let's say monsters begin at...190"+ typical, or 240"+ non-typical?

Also where do...

RE: More kill power

I've never lost a deer with either weapon. My question is, how much meat is lost do to damage from the projectile, "any" is too much for me.

Ridgerunner, I not arguing with you. I carried the weapon most my adult life, "my point is moot?" You say you have killed over 100 w/ your .223, is that 101 or 128, or 147, 199, 1000??? Then you...

RE: For All you 223 Fans

Use a .223 for deer hunting???? WHY??? The M-16 .223/5.56 was not designed for long range shots or knock down power. The round itself, is designed for major internal damage. With it's high velocity,...
