RE: new deer rifle

sjalter, I agree...the .243 is a flat shooting tack driver!! That may be my next rifle. The 30-06 is really versatile, though, lots of different loads,so I think if you could only have one rifle, I...

RE: Ultimate muzzleloader

Rafsob...when I first got my gun, I made the mistake of taking about 30 shots with it shooting 200 grains. I was bruised and even got bit by my scope, which my buddies enjoyed way too much! My...

RE: Ultimate muzzleloader

Our deer season ended the last of Dec. Today I went out to try to call in a coyote, but all I saw was about 50 hungry turkeys and a solitary deer about 500 yards away. I had to unload my gun for the...

RE: Ultimate muzzleloader

Spaniel...we are in complete agreement. As for cleaning the guns, I like the fact that the breech plug NEVER has to be removed, a minor convenience, I know, but it kind of indicates how clean the...

RE: Ultimate muzzleloader

Spaniel, There is a core group of Michigan hunters shooting this gun. It is made in Michigan, and to the best of my knowledge, there has been no national adverising, so I think most people who shoot...

Peter, tried to e-mail you with this, but to no avail. Before I bought mine, I checked. It is legal in all states. Surprised me, too. It is WAY too expensive, feel a bit guilty for buying it. I just...

RE: Ultimate muzzleloader

Skeeter...thanks for the info about your Savage. At 500 yards with 200gr of Pyro and a 300 gr Hornady SST the Ultimate still has over 1000 lbs. energy. That could, in the hands of a real marksman...

RE: Ultimate muzzleloader

Txfireman, I prefer a 500 yard muzzleloader. YOU can use YOUR centerfire ifYOUR ML isn't up to it. To each his own! I have killed 120-150 deer with muzzleloaders, handguns, recurves, compounds,...

RE: Ultimate muzzleloader

Corey, your point is well taken...90% of my deer are taken at close range...I actually prefer bow hunting! You are also correct about downrange energy for most MLs. Thats where this one is different....

RE: Ultimate muzzleloader

Hank, FYI ...we cant use a centerfire in S. Michigan or most people would. The Ultimate is our only realistic opportunity to shoot long distances. On my farm I could possibly shoot 500 yards. Maybe...

RE: Ultimate muzzleloader

Tom,
I just thought of another analogy. (I'm a bit slow...)
Ever throw a small amount of wet wood on a big, roaring fire? Hardly affects the fire.
Now do the same to a small campfire. It...

RE: Ultimate muzzleloader
