RE: What is the best braided line for the $

Why not use a flourocarbon leader?

Well, I know it's far from being obsolete. Just saying that there's newer braids out there that should be better -- or at least smoother.
Btw, what...

RE: What is the best braided line for the $

I doubt power pro is the best braid out there now. Fireline braid is an 8 strand braid while power pro is a 4 strand braid. There's several other 8 strand braids like Ultracast. Those braids are...

RE: composite rods

Wouldn't it be:

Fast action: soft tip
Slow/moderate-fast: soft tip and softer mid-section or butt section.

RE: Sort of a sad day yesterday

Congrats! Good luck on that Ph.D.

You're in the wrong state.:D Heck the community colleges here are just $20 a unit. It might even be $15 next year.

RE: best fishing line for bluegill, catfish, bass, and carp?

I don't see how that's the problem, but I respect your view. I agree that it ain't the limpest and not the best line, but I've had the cheapest of the cheap and that stuff doesn't happen. There's...

RE: best fishing line for bluegill, catfish, bass, and carp?

Open the bail as if you were going to cast, hold part of the rod with one hand, and then pull the line out from the tip of the pole with the other hand. It's as simple as that. After it's all out, it...

RE: Anyone wanna make a bet?

That's definitely why.

Nope, ya need real frogs. Try it some time with some lead to weigh em' down once your frog season starts. You always get a bite and will get tons even when the frogs...

RE: Walleye/northern fishin tips

I believe that's mostly your problem. The pike and walleye are further out or in areas you probably wouldn't have access to unless ya had a boat. Walleye like deep water. Oops, I see you were already...

RE: catfish!!

Natural bait can't be beat when fishing for cats. Cats also like the ones that are alive. Bullheads are more inclined to strike at carrion and dead things. Try some frogs. You're in Ohio so I don't...

RE: Sensitivity ratings on rods.......

The rod to me doesn't matter a whole lot. The reel and the line mean much more. A cheap rod with braid is more sensitive than an expensive one with mono.

RE: Sensitivity ratings on rods.......

Yep. It depends on who's saying what the IM rating it is.:D

Yep, the high modulus rod will be more sensitive and lighter but the trade off is that it's brittle. IM ratings help negate...
