I appreciate all the input on the outfitters, its always nice to hear about first hand experience with outfitters. As staying in the US, I have just seen more bear hunts for Canada then for the US...

I am looking to go on a bear hunt this year and I am looking for some recommendations. I have been looking at going to Canada to hunt but I am unsure if it is worth the trip or just stay in the USA....

I have used my 12ga and my 30-06 and they all work. I have had to shoot more the once with the 12ga to stop them though. I always carry a sidearm and it has come in handy. A 45 is definitely enough...

Thanks for all the replies so far, the only reason I question the 30-06 at those distances is because I have never seen anyone at the range with one do it. I mostly see 308's and such, shooting those...
