Last year I bought my son a 700 youth sps in 7-08 and he loves it and it shoots great. It came with a limb saver pad and I think that makes a big difference.

I usually start out the first series low volume, in case something is close. Then the next series about medium and after that it's wide open. I normally call 30 - 45 seconds and wait 2 - 3 minutes...

I stay 15 minutes. Most I have called have shown up from 1 - 3 minutes. Next would be 5 - 7 minutes, after that I lose confidents in the stand. Some stay 30 minutes, but I rarely have had any luck...

seat-o-pants youth harness

Limbsaver pad, of course it won't reduce the recoil, but it will reduce felt recoil. I have a couple of shotguns that came ported and cannot tell a difference from non-ported.

My son has shot deer with his every year since he was 7, he is now 11. I did get him a slug barrel for it last year and itreally improved the accuracy, but most are pretty good with a smooth barrel....
