a big gun will mess the hide up. Im a trapper and i use a 22 with a regular bullet( not hollow point) shoot it like you would a deer right behind shoulder. hope that helps

i shoot an 870 and use .670 puregold choke tube. bout 50 or 60 bucks but w/ 3 1/2 hevi shot #5s i got a great pattern out to 60 yds easy.
