I don't have a 40mm but I do have 2 4.5x14-50mm and they work really well at first and last light.

I've used Federal 140 SP, Federal 120 BT, Rem.120 Accu.tip, and Corbon 120 TSX. All factory loads up to this point with no problems.

Sorry, never checked.The Federal BT load does 1"to1.5" out of it.Am going to try the Corbon TSX load soon, the Corbon load is shooting .5" out of my 700 CDL SF 260.

The 308 is an accurate round but at extreme long range does run out of steam before the WM or WSM. This only means you may need more "come up" on the scope you are using or a 20moa base to have...

Another vote for the 260, I have both a Model 7 CDL & a 700 CDL SF in it and loaded with the Corbon TSX 120 should be great.

Rem. 700 CDL SF Limited 260 with a Zeiss 4.5-14x50....

I have a model 7 in 260 and love it, so much so that I hope to save up to be able to get a GAP in 260.
