RE: Whats your deer rifle?

This year my primary gun will be my BAR in .308, and my back-up will be my Winchester 88 in .308 as well. Both are topped with Red Dot sights.

RE: Moose Hunting

Be prepared for all weather conditions. I've seen everything from 6 inches of snow to 70 degree temperatures. Have good rain gear and be prepared to walk in the wet stuff. You often get a hatch of...

RE: Ram-Line Syn Stock on Rem. 7600?

I've got a Ram Line on my 7600 in .35 Whelen. It hits me a little harder than the wood stock did, but not enough to worry me. A 7mm-08 should be very easy to handle. 7600s are very accurate, and I've...

RE: what constitutes a nontypical buck

At one time there used to be a "rule-of-thumb" of 10% - meaning ifthe final score was increased by 10% if it was measured as a non-typical, then it went into the NT ranks. This, however, went by the...

RE: Real Deal on Crossbow Speeds

I'm with Cossack on this, but for me the reduction of the chance of the animal jumping the string is greater thgan the advantage of a flatter trajectory.

RE: What are you?

By your definitions - neither.

I'm a stillhunter / tracker / stalker / drive hunter. I almost never use stands. To me hunting is an active rather than a passive sport.

RE: Crossbow Record Book?

There is a crossbow magazine that has established a record book, but its scoring is based on the SCI system, so most people have paid little attention to it.

RE: 4- Official Team Trick'em 'n Stick'em Thread

OK guys, I'm not a big time poster, so if nothing has happened I tend to stay quiet.

I haven't been out much due to illness in the family, but I'm hoping to get out a bit in the next couple of...

RE: What's his score

That is a much better picture to guestimate from. Those tynes on the left antler now look to be 6" long, and a G4 is now visible on that antler. Also mass and length seem to be greater. I'd put him...

RE: What's his score

108 net typical.

The left antler is what will count and the points seem to be 4" max. Decent spread and long beams salvage it partly. Most of that nice stuff on the right antler can't be counted.

RE: Ontario Bear Hunt

I bowhunted moose in WMU 24 north of Kapuskasing, and we were overrun by bear. We saw somewhere between 7 and 10 if them, and we didn't want to see any. If you expand your parameters, that might be...

Strike Three on Moose

I'm back from my third moose hunt of the year, and have to go sit on the bench. No moose for me.

I hunted twice earlier on with my bow, we had bull and cow tags for the first hunt and a bull tag...

RE: 4- Official Team Trick'em 'n Stick'em Thread

I'm leaving for my final week of moose hunting tonight (this time with a gun), but when I get back I'll be able to start concentrating on deer hunting.

RE: whos from ontario?

I'm from Niagara, but live in Manotick (part of Ottawa).

I hunt moose in WMUs 24, 28 and 47 and hunt deer in WMUs 47, 64A, 64B and possibly 63A if things work out. I also have bear and wolf...

Of the animals I currently hunt, I probably enjoy moose hunting the best, though the camp life on a whitetail hunt can't be beat.

I favour the typical racks. A big typical is an outstanding example of the animal as it has evolved to be. Non-typicals are freaks - though interesting freaks. If the Jordan buck and the...

RE: Official Sign Up for 2007/2008 Bowhunting Contest.
