Semisane - you're so right! I haven't seen the drill press that would work for ramrods. I was totally thinking about my own projects and didn't picture the task very well. I won't be able to sleep...

RE: Recurves and carbons

Ranger,
Thanks. I felt a little foolish after hitting the 'OK' button, so I'm really glad you weren't offended. Nothing like an old fart no-it-all sharing useless information...
I think the speed...

RE: Recurves and carbons

Hey Ranger,
You made me smile. I like cedar, make my own tapered shafts even, but shoot everything. That carbon and fiberglass multi-laminated high-tech recurve (the Kudu) is technically a trad bow...

RE: longbow antelope blind

Thanks dwd2001 and others. I talked on the phone to John from double bull today. The problem with the recurve model is that it just isn't wheelchair accessible. You can't imagine how frustrating it...

RE: longbow antelope blind

Thanks Chad, and everyone else. The Ameristep Penthouse TSC looks pretty good. They even advertise the door as 'wheelchair accessible' and the other dimensions look good. Any knocks on the TSC...

longbow antelope blind

Some of you might remember me from being on here 2-3 years ago. My son wanted to take up the longbow, and he got a great Crusader after getting some advice here. Well, he had a sledding accident and...

RE: Tutorial on using fletch tape?

I use a Jo-Jan, and put the jig base on a 2X6 on the far right. In the middle, I put a homemade clamp holder that holds the clamp with the feather base up (the tapered end to the left, because that's...

RE: UMBRELLAS?????

First and maybe last time I check this forum out. This thread is pretty funny. I think a lot of the problems would be solved if IBO just took Bowhunter out of the name, maybe replace it with...

RE: self nocks, reinforced nocks?

Dan & Grey,
I haven't tried any self-nocks yet, but I've been reading this thread, and you got me to wonderin'.

I don't have the TBB jig directions either, but I have been making some jigs for...

RE: Opinion Poll: Should Floxter give me his new bow?

Hey Toxo:
To quote Kris Kristofferson "Nothin' ain't worth nothin' if it's free". You'd never feel good about it. Specially now that you dropped the hint. Get one of those college loan/grant things,...

Everything they just said. Tubes aren't the place to economize for gl. For dipping in paint or stain, maybe, but not gl. I did make up one in pvc for stain, and you can even attach adapters to go to...

Dan,
When you say you seal the shaft first, does that mean with gl? I think you meant you do that just to the cap section, right? If you're putting one coat of gl on after the tip section is stained...

Does that Delta cream coat make pretty thin layers then? I'm sure you understand my wish to keep the coat fairly thin and light weight. If you thin it, I reckon you can control it pretty...

Richie & BobCo -
I haven't found a white stain yet that I like, that covers good in one coat. Almost any of the stains listed in this thread will discolor gasket lacquer. I've had best luck using a...

RE: Help me with LB length and #

For what it's worth, a 66" bow strung just fits in the back seat of an extended cab full size pickup........I wouldn't want a longer one.

RE: Puzzled by draw length/weight markings

Thanks PB and Floxter..
I'm still working on it. 50 lbs. pulls the 28" mark 9/16" out in the air on the belly side of the riser. 46 lbs pulls the 28" mark to the dip of the handle locator grip,...

Puzzled by draw length/weight markings

I've searched all the posts, and there is a lot of info out there. My question is, if you have a bow marked 50#@28", made by a reputable bowyer, but not marked "AMO", where would you expect the 28"...

RE: Tapered my own shafts lower spine?

Pat, I just recently started tapering shafts, also, using the planing method. Before that, I did a lot of spine testing, paper tuning, and bare shafting with POC (also using 125,145, and 160 gr...
