RE: Good pair of binoculars for around $300

I've narrowed my selection to the folling 10x42's:

Leupold Acadia @ $180
Leupold Cascade @ $270
Nikon Monarch ATB @ $270
Burris Fullfield II @ $195

The Monarchs are the lighest (by...

RE: Do you eat Northern Shovelers?

To those who eat shoveler, and say it tastes OK - where are you hunting the duck? Freshwater or saltwater?

Last season was my first hunting season. I started late in the game, and didn't really...

RE: Do you eat Northern Shovelers?

I tried making jerky out of the last couple spoonies I had in the freezer, and all I ended up with was dog treats.

I breasted the ducks, cut the meat into small strips, soaked it in salt water...

RE: Do you eat Northern Shovelers?

For those of us who apparently don't know how to cook them, please let us know your technique so that these ducks don't go to waste. I've only killed 2, and both were inedible for my wife and I. The...

RE: Thoughts on Poly-Choke?

Remington 870 Express. New, but comes with only 1 choke - Improved Mod. I got it for only $270, so I wasn't expecting it to come with any bells & whistles.

It's not reducing the value...

RE: Thoughts on Poly-Choke?

I can't be just throwing money at stuff I'm not sure of. I'm just getting started in hunting, and I've had not one hand-me-down. I've dumped a whole bunch of money over the past year on this 'hobby'...

RE: Thoughts on Poly-Choke?

The screw-in type would be completely removable, so it'll neither raise the value, nor lower the value.

I'm not really concerned about the 'market-value' of my shotgun, either. I'm not planning...

RE: Thoughts on Poly-Choke?

Well, I've never been much for making things 'pretty'. As long as it's functional, reliable, and doesn't get in the way, I like it.

Thoughts on Poly-Choke?

I've searched the forums here, and on a couple other sites, but can't find any info on the adjustable Poly-Choke.

I just bought my first shotgun, a Remington Express 3" 12ga, and would like to...

First Time Duck Hunting

My brother took me duck hunting this past weekend. The spot is only 10 minutes from my house - 5 minutes from his. We got there late, and had less than an hour of shooting time, and only one gun....

RE: What do you guys think of Refurbs?

Well, I have no experience with hunting related refurb items, but I wouldn't hesitate to buy a manufacturer refurb from a company that makes high quality stuff.

I work in I.T. and see many...

RE: First Leopard Shark

And my wife caught her first shark - a Sand Shark. This was the first of about a dozen that we released. She was excited to catch the first few...but after that she started getting annoyed.

First Leopard Shark

Was fishing for Halibut and Stripers in the SF Bay, but picked up this 40" Leopard shark Sunday morning. It was the only keeper of the day.

RE: Favorite Fishing glasses

Whatever polarized ones I can find on sale for less than $15. They're going to end up getting scratched, lost, or broken, so I'm not going to spend more than just a few bucks.

RE: Power Pro Observation

When using heavy braided line (or even heavy Mono), I use any type of wooden handle I have laying around (bait net usually). I wrap the line around it several times, and give it a tug to get the line...

RE: Thoughts on Galileo Binoculars?

This is precisely the reason I made the original post. They may be very good binoculars...I'm guessing probably not AS good as Nikon, but if they come close, or the average person (me) wouldn't...

Thoughts on Galileo Binoculars?

I'd like to get zoom binoculars. I've been looking at the 10-22x50 Nikon Action bino's for some time, and just came across the Galileo 10-40x60 bino's. I couldn't find any reviews, and was wondering...
