RE: Wolves: Mother's Nature's Revenge

Never have eaten them, but one account I've read of eating dog described it as extremely similar to lamb.

So the lesson for the day:

Never eat lamb at an Asian restaurant (that was a tip...

RE: Wolves: Mother's Nature's Revenge

Minnerator,

Hmmmm - I didn't insult you and never attributed anything to you personally - sorry you had to sink to that, but no worries.

I even made a point of agreeing with you and twice...

RE: maryland open seasons...?

http://www.dnr.state.md.us/huntersguide/index.asp

Coyote are always in season also, though they are not thick here in this state, but they are technically regarded as being in all counties.

RE: does anyone here believe that black bears are more dangerous than grizzly's

I have never encountered a bear, but everything I've read would fit the analogy of fighting Mike Tyson or Lenox Lewis - The Grizzly (Lewis) is gonna hit you the hardest of the two...

RE: Not for the meek..

I find this dubious. I wonder about this - some of those long shots were offhand and the vast majority of hunting in Africa is 'off sticks' - it makes me wonder if his intent was to WOUND the...

RE: Wolves: Mother's Nature's Revenge

MinnFinn,

I'm sorry for that one family you mentioned - that would suck. But just one example isn't an excuse to eradicate a population. My position is that if these wolves are becoming a...

RE: 5.56/223 for elk/moose(don't flame me yet!)

Various answers to questions - adopted?
Deployed in the field at this time - but its probably going to be rejected by DoD if it hasn't been already - its just not effective enough.

RE: Convert 45-70 Marlin Cowboy to pistol grip?

Talked to a gunsmith - its no big deal - you just need the stock, trigger plate and curved lever - they all interchange apparently.

EDIT - oh and the reason I would do it is because 1. I don't...

Convert 45-70 Marlin Cowboy to pistol grip?

Curious if anyone has converted a cowboy 1895 45-70 from Marlin to a 336-type pistol grip stock:

I prefer the look of the pistol grip,...

RE: 5.56/223 for elk/moose(don't flame me yet!)

So.... an elk or moose that just got shot isn't going to pump enough adrenaline to get a little high too?

Its not just Somalia - these reports are coming in from Iraq and Afghanistan.

RE: New to the site, new to hunting... just new =) My intro and my first questions

Zone-wise we're pretty wide open here- shotguns, handguns, rifles, muzzleloader (long and pistol), vertical bow and crossbow.

I agree - I think I may need to shoot some guns and see how I like...

RE: Gun refinishing- blue to case-hardened?

Thanks for the information! I found a Gunsmithing kit that will do the color case hardening but upon reading about the process and all of the things involved, its probably more trouble than its worth...

RE: 5.56/223 for elk/moose(don't flame me yet!)

I've been doing alot of research on ar-15s and I wouldn't recommend a .223/5.56mm NATO for anything larger than varmints. It will kill deer sure, but consider this. During the Blackhawk Down incident...

You need to go sign up for www.ar15.com

Gun refinishing- blue to case-hardened?

I've seen several case-hardened guns recently and they are really gorgeous. Is this a finish or a process? Can you make a blue receiver (leveraction) look like this after the fact?

And also, is...

I'm on east coast, so I have no oppinion or experience on wolves encroaching upon people out West. Though I do think they are gorgeous animals that have a right to exist and that as humans, we are...

RE: New to the site, new to hunting... just new =) My intro and my first questions

Thanks to all for the welcome!

I'm not 100% set on the 45-70 so I'll consider other calibers etc. Though I do have a soft spot for those leverguns...

Another option I've considered is...

New to the site, new to hunting... just new =) My intro and my first questions

Hello all - I'm probably a bit of a paradox, so some of this may seem strange but bear with me. My name is SeraphG, and I am a hunting newbie. (lights a lighter and stands up)

I'm 34 and while I...
