My first thought was there was not enough bait at the site. I would have loaded it up with some sweet stuff in addition to the meat and dog food. Use the grease for a scent trail. It works for me.

Colorado probably has the highest elk numbers, over the counter tags, and lots of public land. Plus, they don't have the problem with wolves that we do in Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming.
