Seeking Advice...but maybe ignoring it.

With a recent purchase I now have three center-fire rifles. A post 64 Model 70 in .300 Winchester Magnum, a post 64 Model 70 in .270 Winchester and a Model 12 FV Savage in .22-250.

I have three scopes. A Leupold VX II CDS 3.5 x 10, Leupold VX III CDS in 3.5 x 10 and a Sheels store brand 4 x 12. All have objective lens of 40-44 mm.

My question. Which scope on which rifle?

What do you want to do with each rifle?

Personally, I do a lot more coyote hunting than I do elk hunting, and since you're in NE, I assume that's not so different for you. I also favor good glass and not knowing but assuming the Scheels branded scope isn't as good quality as the Leupolds, I'd stick the VX-III on the 22-250, the VX-II on the 270, and the Scheels 4-12x on the 300wm. That would leave me with my best scope on the coyote rifle, a good scope on the deer rifle, and a decent scope on the 300wm. It also puts the highest magnification on the rifle with the greatest range potential.

Thanks

I'll probably do this, it's actually handy in that the 4 x 12 in still in its box and the 300 win mag is the new rifle.

Thanks again

I'm of the same opinion as NoMercy. I would assume you're going to be using the 270 and 22-250 a lot more then the 300wm. I'd put the VX III on the 22-250, the VX II on the 270 and the Sheels on the 300WM. But I'd run that Sheels through the wringer to make sure it is a solid scope. It's likely a Bushnell or maybe even a Nikon that was made for Sheels. I know Bushnell makes scopes for several companies as does Tasco.
