Default Scope Options for 6.5 creedmore

I've been looking around for the "right" scope to put on my new rifle. I really like what I see in the the Vortex scopes. Would or have any of you put one of these on your rifle? Which one ? I'm leaning toward a 4-12x40 vortex diamondback or the Bushnell Engage 6-18x50.
What are your thoughts ?

Are you using your Creedmoore as a hunting rifle or target rifle. If you are hunting with it stick with scopes starting at4 or less power. With all the new scopes out there with 4,5,6 and even 8 times zoom you can pick your max power at what ever you like. Remember though the cheaper the scope the less effective your max power will be.

I haven't yet seen an Engage, but I've been happy with many Bushnell scopes in its price range in the past.

If you gave me a Diamondback, for free, I'd sell it and buy a different model.

Check out the Nikon Monarch 5 3-15x42. It is a lot of scope for the money.

It will be a hunting rifle for trips to montana and colorado for mule deer. I am putting a max of 450yds on my shots because I dont have the time to shoot and stay sharp any farther our. I will check into the monarch.

I'm mostly been a leupold vx3 or zeiss conquest guy, but my latest bushnell 4500 4-16x seems pretty awesome so far, very clear, great reticle, I have the doa600 reticle, ie multi crosshair. I may be buying another one of these in the future, possibly a 6500 model.

I like those Bushnell Elite 4500 scopes, too. Good glass and it is tough to beat Rainguard as an added feature.

What can you say about smart HD rifle scopes? I had a chance to shoot with it, I liked it, I think I should buy it. Are they worth their money? In the description, everything is very cool! Here I found some reviews from ATN brand. Have you something like this?

During a sale this past weekend I snagged an XPR in 6.5 and am pairing it with a Vortex Diamondback HP 4-16x42. I am a big fan of the Monarch 5/7 rifle scopes and own a few, but for the $$, this should be a great setup ($250 for the rifle after rebate and $280 for the scope). Hoping to have it all put together this weekend if everything arrives...

I have the rifle and scope setup but didn't make it out to the range today. A quick side-by-side of the Monarch 5 3-15x50 vs the Diamondback HP 4-16x42 shows the Monarch scope is MUCH nicer than Vortex, which is to be expected I suppose. If you can find a good deal on a Nikon Monarch, that is the way to go. Better glass overall by a pretty noticeable margin. Beyond about 400 yards, the clarity on the Vortex just goes away...almost as if the parallax can't compensate beyond that despite the numbers on the side. Low light conditions are much better/clearer on the Monarch as well and while it is a 50mm objective, I don't believe the Vortex would be any better if it also had a 50. For the price I paid for the Vortex scope though, I'll keep it. At full retail price, I would have returned it and gone for yet another Monarch. Natchez has some good deals on Nikon scopes and if another deal comes along, I may end up replacing this Vortex down the road regardless.

Anyway, just my opinion comparing 2 of the scopes mentioned here. If you can, try and look at these scopes in person because when they're side by side, the Monarch really shines. Both are better than any Bushnell I've looked through though.

Good luck in your search and let us know what you end up going with.
