First Scope Suggestions
 

Hey guys,

So after hunting deer for the past couple years using my buddies guns and what not I just bought my own Ruger American rifle in 30-06. Now I have a gun to call my own (:

Next order of business is the optics. From using different guns I have used POS Tasco's all the way up to $400+ lueopolds. I am a college student with limited funds and I have been hearing all the rage on here about the Burris Fullfield II scopes and they seem do be a decent sub $200 scope.

If I had the money I would be going for the Ziess Conquest.

So for a sub $200 scope are there any other contenders I should be looking into?

I have the burris fullfield on my Tc Encore and love it..I also have a few nikon's with the BDC and like those as well and those are also in the $200 range..I have an old Tasco on my 30-30 that i have shot over 40 deer with and the thing is great...I will never pay that crazzzy money for a scope when there are some reallly good ones in the 2-3 hunred dollar area. Go with that burris or the nikon and you will be happy !!!!

The Burris FFII is the best bet in that price range imo. I've used many of the popular scopes in that price range, and the FFII is by far the best. The next step up would be a Zeiss Conquest imo.

Also a Burris guy, but at the "Signature Select" level.


Whatever you buy, look for a lifetime warranty (buy it once) !

You might want to look at the Redfield scopes.

Thanks for the feedback guys. As I was trolling the interwebs late last night I stublbed upon this guys review of sub $200 scopes and found it quite interesting.

He mentioned the Vortex Diamondback scope as being the best of the 5 budget scopes, exceeding in areas like optics quality. With the FFII right behind.

Anyone used one of these vortex scopes? What'd ya think?

You need to look through these scopes with your own eyes. Someone else may see things differently through them. Beware of internet "experts"!

P.S. Are you saying that the vortex is not all that great, or are you just giving an extra 2 cents?

Redfield revolution 3-9x40 excellent scope, full warrenty. The eye relief is out standing as well. I am really impressed w/ this scope and i compare it w/ leupold 2's all day. Burris wont let you down either.

I know of no problem with Vortex. They apparently are a privately held US company that farms out 100% of their manufacturing & assembly to various unknown factories in Asia. As long as the company stays around to support their warranty, they seem to be a reasonable deal.
