Leopold Rifleman

What's your thoughts on this scope? Seems like you get the quality of a Leopold for a small price...Would be used as my all around scope for just about everything I hunt from deer/elk/yotes...

Is there a comparable scope for this price?

It's OK, I would upgrade to the Leupold VX-2

I would look at a Sightron S1 way before the cheap Leupolds. They are a super scope for a very reasonable price. I have several Leupolds, and several Sightrons... (low and upper levels) Sightron is every bit as good as Leupold is, imo.

5-6 years ago I bought a Leupy Rifleman for my son's 7-08. $200 was the budget and Leupys had always treated me well in the past. Scope is bright, clear, adjustments seem to be reasonably true, holds zero. Overall it's been a decent scope.

To me, the Rifleman is not deserving of the good Leupold name. I'd also upgrade.

I own 3 other Leupys, VX2s and 3s, a Conquest and a Monarch. The Rifleman is not nearly what the others are but then it didnt cost nearly as much either. Basically, the Rifleman is very similar to the old Vari X 2s with friction adjustments rather than click adjustments. As stated earlier, it is a "decent" scope, nothing more, nothing less.

What would be a good deer rifle scope for under $200 then?

It isn't the worst scope in the world, but it's way way overpriced. It's more comparable to many $80-100 scopes.

The Burris FFII is cheaper and a much much better scope. IMO it's the way to go in that price range, but Vortex as well as Nikon have a few good options as well.

+1 on the Burris.

I got a Burris fullfield II off eBay for 125 with shipping. It arrived the very next day. I am pleased with the scope especially for the money. Can't beat it.
