vented rib barrel??

whats the deal with shotguns (hunting mainly) and a vented rib barrels?

i like ghost rings always have but the only smooth barrels with ghost rings are "tactical" and those dont have threads for chokes.

so what am i missing about ribbed barrels and is there any way to order a camo diped gun with a ghost ring "tactical" barrel threaded for chokes.

It is to give more surface area which to allow for better cooling. It also makes a nice flat surface to look done when shooting targets.

Ditto "shawn802" .... somewhat for cooling and certainly helps with taking a correct sight line.

the cooling is def. a plus with the shotguns now. Especially target shooting. Its not like a huge drastic difference but it will help out a little when your blasting off shots constantly and keeping the barrel cool is supposed to maintain accuracy.
