30-30 Scope
My eyes are going. I would like to put a 4x32 scope on the 30-30. I have considered Alpen, Konus, Bushnell and Sightron.
Considering this is not my primary rifle, I didn't really want to spend to much. Any opinions on the few I have mentioned? Any others to consider? Thanks, |
imo...a 30-30 is a flyin brick and is an iron sight gun..maybe a 1X
|
I would go with the Bushnell of those listed but take a look at the Redfield Revolution 2-7 for 130 bucks.IMO best bang for the buck in low cost scopes.

Got any gun shows in your area coming up? Usually a good source for used stuff at half-decent price... I've bought used scopes at these events and not been disappointed. I guess my point here is you can probably get a good, high-end quality scope for a lot less than you'd pay new or used in a gun store. Check it out. Gun Digest magazine lists upcoming shows all across the country, when, where, etc.., near the back of the publication. I use it often.

My favorite for 30-30, and all sub 100yard guns is the 1.5-5X20 Leupold Vari-X III or equivalent.

Your correct, not too many people need any more than5X hunting up to 300 yards.

I have a Nikon 3x9x40 on my 30-30.
|
I second bigcountry's choice. The Leupold VX-3 1x5 would be an outstanding scope for the 30:30.
|
Cabelas has the Pine Ridge scope for a 30/30 that is worth the money. Watch and you can get a good buy.
|
Best scope for a decent price = IOR 4 X 32. Next best (and cheaper too plus with rebate now) = Sightron II 4 X32...IMO.

I personally would like to see you go with a 4 x40 scope, better by far than a 32 in low light conditions.

I heard they're making
some great $2000 scopes just for you blind guys. I even think the click indicators come in braille.
I heard the only trouble these fellows are having, is reading the price tags at the sporting goods stores. There are also some great hearing aids, if you're going deaf, too. |
You know for some strange reason, probably due to the content and usefulness of his posts, everytime valentine posts, I have this image of him behind the keyboard. anyone else?

PM sent...

Burris Timberline 4x20 you can get that for about $160
|
Leupold vx1 2x7x33 perfect on a 3030
|
Thanks for all the ideas.
However I went with the SII 4x32 as Sightron was offering a $50 rebate on the SII models. I already have one SII 3x9 that I like, so I thought I would give another a try. |
