Peep...or...ghost ring?

i was looking into these for my new 308MXLR...i shot my uncles gun the other day and it had a peep...but then i looked up ghost rings and it seems like they would not only work better in low light but maybe they also have a less chance of getting clogged with dirt/snow.

opinions on which is better?

I always thought the terms were interchangeable. I haven't shot a gun with peep sights since I was a kid. If you're concerned about dirt or snow you could get a sight with a larger hole but a larger hole generally decreases the accuracy you get.

If you use a Williams sight, it has interchangeable inserts with different size apertures, or you can unscrew the peep insert and use the frame as a ghost ring for low light or fast moving shots.

You get more accuracy with a smaller hole, but lose light and field of view. Son in low light or on moving shots you want a ghost ring; if making longer shots you want a small aperture.

Both is the smart play. Buy one with removable aperture as described above. In low light jut screw out the smaller peep and bingo-you have a "ghost ring". It is hard for me to believe how people pay so much more for a "ghost ring" sight, and they get less?? I can't understand it. You will also shoot more accurately 90% of the time or more with the smaller peep. Tom.

The Williams is the way to go. Then maybe get the ghost ring front site that has the white stripe on it that more or less glows in low light.
