How are these 2 scopes?
I am looking to get a new scope for deer and elk hunting in eastern oregon, and i like both of these, can you please tell me which one is best and how good each of them are.

Consider this for $400
http://www.opticsplanet.net/zeiss-3-...-reticle1.html I like to stay under 44MM or less for a lower mount, and better check weld. |

Choosing between those scope would be a very hard decision for me as they both are great scopes. I guess the Vortex would win out slightly for me and that's only because of their great warranty and customer support.

Never owned a Vortex and have never even seen one in person but they seem to get rave reviews from those who have them. My concern with Vortex is will they be around 10 years from now should you need customer service?
I have used one of the older Monarch UCC's from Nikon and it was an excellent scope. Have read that Nikon's customer service can be suspect at times but I never had to use it. My Nikon was clear and the adjustments were accurate. If it were me though, I would seriously consider the Zeiss Conquest that Sheridan posted a link to. A lot of scope for the money. |

If you are going with a Zeiss, which is a step above both of the scopes you originally mentioned one thing I thought I'd point out is Cameralandny.com has some refurbs on sale. I think the 3-9x40 can be had for something like $350 if they have the reticle you want. I'm not sure if the sale prices are listed on their site or not, but I know they have a thread at 24hourcampfire.com about it. |
I have a $100 Bushnell and it aids me in killing em just as dead.

I like the Monarch, but it woul be hard to pick it over the Conquest with either the #4 or Z-Plex reticle for the type hunting I do.
