Scope of Choice For Whitetail Hunting?
 

List your favorite scope for hunting whitetail, the area you hunt and why its your favorite.

I'll go first

Great quality and it didn't empty my wallet

Zeiss Diavari 3x12x56, south Bama and NW Florida, just a great scope, great in in low light times. It should last my lifetime, my grandsons lifetime, and potentially their grandsons lifetimes.

Leupold M8 6x42

I like a good variable power scope for where I hunt. I currently have a Nikon Monarch 4-16X42 SF with the Nikoplex reticle on my Remington 700 .30-06. And I have a Nikon Omega 3-9X40 with the BDC reticle on my T/C Encore Endeavor Muzzleloader. Both awesome scopes!

I know there are better quality scopes but I wont take anything out without rainguard anymore. I lost a buck of a life time using a Leupold VX III. It was in very cold weather with blowing snow I walked up on an amazing buck, I threw the gun up and the scope immediately fogged from the heat off of my face by the time I got it wiped off it was just too late. I had 6 Leupys at the time and they have all been sold. I mainly use Bushnell Elite 4200 line now for hunting rifles. Fav is the 2.5x 10x40. You couldnt give me anything else to take out don't care how much more it cost to purchase.

I only hunt in WV so I guess that my fav.

Leupold VX-II 3-9x40

No one is best. There are just too many variables. For low light I like Trijicon Accupoints. For precision I like Swarovski. For inclement conditions I like Bushy Elite 4200 with Rainguard. For hard recoilers I like fixed power Leupy. For good value I like Vortex Viper and Sightron Big Sky. The list goes on and on.

I really like Vortex line of scopes in the 3x9x40's. Great low light and very solid.

I use Burris Signature Select scopes(4X-16X 44MM Ballistic Plex) with Burris "zee" rings and Burris "weaver style" bases on all my scoped rifles with very few exceptions.


Two main reasons;

First, I wish they were all Swarovski, but I can’t afford it.

So, Burris (Signature Select) IMO delivers the biggest bang for the buck with the features I find important in a high powered scope.

Second is familiarity – I find in the field, the window of opportunity is often fleeting.

I need to execute my shot routine efficiently in order to close the deal quickly.
