scope gurus...I need some assistance
 

I am waiting on the arrival of my Optima Elite .50/.270. The ML barrel has a brand new scope awaiting it, but I'm not sure what to do with the centerfire. I have a next-to-new Bushnell Banner 3-9X40 scope on my Savage .22 that I thought about sticking on the .270. Should I do that and buy a new rimfire scope for the .22, or leave it where it's at and buy a new scope for the big gun? I figure I can get by with a $50 rimfire scope that will knock squirrels out of trees, but if I buy a scope for the big gun I'll want to invest more than that.

I have about $100-$150 to play with. I know there are great scopes out there for more, but the reality is that this is my $ limit. Saving more to buy a better scope is not an option. I'm broke and my only 'toy' money comes from selling my other toys...and I'm out of toys to sell!

What's your opinion on my scope situation?

i'd put the banner on the Optima Elite.

Nice guns too! I have the fancier Apex in 30-06 and its an amazing shooter

If it were my choice, I'd get something better (than the Banner) for the .270. Several that fit your criteria include:

Sightron SI series
Redfield Revolution
Vortex Diamondback
Weaver Classic K series (fixed)

www.samplelist.com is a good place to look for some deals on scopes, its like the scratch and dent part of SWFA.com . Im a huge fan of Bushnell but not the cheaper lines of scopes they make. If it were me Id try to find the best deal I could with my $150 on a used quality scope.

You can get demo Nikon Prostaffs on there for about $100 and the Nikon Buckmaster for around $150.

They have a demo Burris Fullfield for $150.

Id check ebay and some local shops for used stuff.

IMO - Duckbutter has a good plan for your situation.

heres a half decent deal on ebay depending on where it goes off. Includes mounts it says.

Id be a little patient with your $100-150 you will find something half decent. I will post and other deals I see. I have a bud looking for a scope in your price range and Im helping him too.

That is a great deal on the 3200. If you aren't going to get it I might make an offer.

www.natchezss.com has some great deals on some refurbed Nikons. They have the 3-9-40 buckmasters for $140. The buckmasters line is pretty good in relation to your price range.

As much as I have read on natchez and SWFA.com I would not for one second to be afriad to buy a refurbed Nikon.

Now these obviously arent the best scopes on the market but are pretty good for your price range.

Shoot the squirrels with open sights, add the $50 to the $150, go to ebay and buy a Leupold. Not being able to come up with $50 sounds ridiculous. I wouldn't hammer nails with the ones mentioned. Now open the flood gates for everyone to say that Leupolds are overrated, overpriced, and everything else is just as good.
