Looking a scope for my Bone Collector
 

Any muzzleloader scope recommendations would be appreciated.

Is it wrong to put a black scope on a camo'd gun?

Of course you can put a black scope on it. I'd pick a fixed 4X myself or a low power (up to 6X ) variable. There are lots of good choices. It just depends on your budget and needs.

I figure I'd be spending $200-$300.

I like the idea of a 4x rather then 3x I was considering a Nikon Omega. Bushnell has a new Bone Collector Muzzleloader Scope as well.

I would use it for white tail here in NY mostly. Can't see myself shooting over 200 yards but you never know with this new gun and future scope.

Can you recommend a 4x scope?

I have 3X9 scopes on my muzzleloaders and have been very satisfied. Modern in-lin muzzleloaders shooting saboted bullets are not short range guns, so why put short range scopes on them?? I am very comfortable with my Omega out to 200 yards and I practice shooting at 100, 150 and 200 yards. I find that having a scope more powerful than 4x is helpful for these 49 year-old eyes.

I leave my scope on 4 power when woods hunting and 5-6 power in open fields. I like having the option of zooming in if necessary and the 9x setting when range shooting at 200 is a big plus.

Any good 2x7 or 3X9 scope would be excellent. Some of mine include Nikon Buckmaster and Monarch, Bushnell Elite 3200, and Burris Fullfield II.

Looking at the Nikon Coyote scope also....

Don't know if I like the coyotes reticle....I like the Omega step up from 100 yard to 150,200,250.

The coyotes step up is 100,200,300,etc.....

The Omegas looking like it might be the one.

There are several good 4X scopes out there. The Sightron II 4X32 is quite good for under $200. One on the nicest I've ever had was a Zeiss Conquest 4X32 for under $300. Of course, Leupold makes a decent one in the FXII line the 4X33 for about $300. That's a start. Good luck.
