remington 700 VTR .223 Scopes????
I have a Rem. 700 VTR .223 and have a scheels close by. Any thoughts on a scope for around $300-$400? Weather a scheels brand is good or not?
Thanks |
Take a good look at the Sightron SII scopes. The 4X16 would make a great scope for that rifle. It is definitely in your price range. I have one on a CZ 204 Ruger, and it does a great job for a moderately priced scope. The scope also tracks very well. I bought mine from Larry Scott off the varmint hunters forum. He is a good guy to deal with. Tom.

I use Burris Signature Select 4X-16X 44MM on my .204
Take a look on here; http://www.opticsplanet.net/riflescopes.html |
Another choice is the 4-16 X 40 Bushnell Elite 4200.

I have a Bushnell Elite 3200 5x15x50 on one varmint rig, the other wears a Nikon Buckmaster 6x18x40. Both of which are in your price range.

I have the VTR in .223 with digital camo.
I put a Leupold VXII 4x12-40mm with LRD reticle on it for $429 I wish I would have spent the extra money and put the 6x18x40 on it with LRVD reticle ($549) but Cabelas was out when I went to buy it. I'm planning on doing that upgrade next year. |

Thanks How open is the terrain in which you plan on hunting if that is what you plan to do with the gun? |
I went with a scheels paragon 4-18x56 mildot. Paid $399. Mostly target but will go for coyotes too(200-300yrds) and hopefully some p-dogs. So far clear and good tracking. I like the over the no questions asked counter warranty(if I ever need it).
Shoots good so far. Had 3/4"-1" groups after sight in at 100yrds. temps. were around 10-12 above with 3-5 mph breeze. I might have been shivering a little on those groups though. P.S. With the muzzle break, earplugs are a must. |
With the VTR, ear muffs or plugs are a must period unless you don't care about your hearing. They are very loud.
