What scope is right for me
ok whats a good scope ( clear and very bright in low light ) for under 150, or is there one? i currently have a bushnell scope that came on my gun, and its pretty cheap, i can see better in low light with my eyes than with the scope, in daylight it does the job fine tho
ALSO if possible i was it to zoom to about 12 or so instead of just 9 |
Well, I really like the Burris Fullfield II's but they are slightly more than your budget. Which Bushnell line do you have now? You may not be able to get much better of a scope for your price range if you already have a Banner or similar. I thought I did see a deal on a either Elite 3200 or 4200 I can't remember which on Amazon though that might be worth checking out if they still have it.

Pick quality over quantity. It will be hard to find a higher magnification scope in that price range that is of good quality, unless you luck up on something used. You will be better off to save another $100-$150 and buy yourself a good scope to start with.
You don't state what type of hunting or where you hunt so I will assume you are talking about deer. A good quality 3-9x40 is a good range to start with. Some would say that most hunters do not need even that much magnification. Right now you can get a Bushnell Elite 4200 for around $250. Amazon had them the other day for $240 shipped but they are now a little more. Never ordered from this company before but it looks to be a good deal. http://www.overstock.com/Sports-Toys...4-000423c27407 |
I would buy the best scope I could find for the money I have. You know if you can not see them , then you can not shoot them and you want to be able to hit where you aim.

You should be able to find a Bushnell Elite 3200 for about $150, check e-bay and around. They are about as good as you can get for that price range. I would save another $100 and get the 4200 if I could, dang good scope for the money.

Take a look around here first.
http://www.opticsplanet.net/riflescopes.html You've got some good advise already. The idea is to spend your hard earned money only once.....................so get a brand named scope with a lifetime warranty. |
Save up a bit and try the Elite 4200. It's a best buy. Optical quality / coatings trump magnification. A 3-9 X 40 is a great all-around scope for hunting deer.

I would try the new redfield riflescopes, their made by leupold and there right in your price range.

This is a pretty decent scope for $80: http://swfa.com/Hawke-3-9x40-Frontie...pe-P41124.aspx
This is the same scope as a Burris Fullfield, but is only $120. It's also quite a good buy: http://swfa.com/Pentax-3-9x40-Pionee...pe-P40165.aspx Those are really about the two best options for under $150. If you can bump it up to $200, you could buy this: http://swfa.com/Nikon-Team-Primos-Ri...pes-C1407.aspx That Nikon is a bit better still, and comes with a free camo jacket. It's the same scope as their discontinued Monarch UCC, just with a different name. It's a really nice scope for the money. After that, the Elite 4200 is the next best buy. It's probably jut a tad better than the Monarch, and only $50 or so more. Plus, it comes with Rainguard, a coating that really helps in damp conditions- kind of like Rainex. By the way, don't ever put Rainex on a scope. |
