Scope for Ruger Super Redhawk

I picked up a .44 mag Ruger Super Redhawk and I want to put a scope on it. My question is, can I put a short rifle scope on it or do I need to purchase a pistol scope? What is the difference between the a rifle and pistol scope? Eye relief and size? Thanks in advance.

Eye relief is the difference. Rifle scope has 3" to 4" eye relief where handgun scopes has arm length eye relief. On my Ruger Super Redhawk 44mag. I put a Millet Red Dot Scope on it that has no eye relief do to having no power in the scope.

I've had a Tasco ProPoint red dot sight on my Ruger Redhawk for a couple of years. It's a pretty good setup in deer season.
