what on earth do u need a handmade flounder gig for, i use ones i bought at my local tackle store and they work just fine

hey Jersey... them's southern boys... gig, spears something they don't allow up here... big time sport at night under the lights in shallow water...

We have guys on the beach that make diff kind of gigs:)
But thats in Miami.

I read it wrong, I thought it said rigs not gigs.
But even so I take a long handled telescoping crab net and to the other end fasten a gig. I can scoop crabs with the net or spear eels with the gig. When you shine the light they just hold still. I tie an old tire tube with a bushel basket stuffed inside to my belt. Lots of fun and now since I I've got a few themacell's it should be more enjoyable.:)

Dive shops sell telescoping gigs with the surgical rubber tubing to propel it.

Not legal in sweet water, but ok in the salt.
