boca grande with blue crabs, or if you get the crabs i hear it is better to try for big permit out on the wrecks. I never have caught one but buddies do regularly i never get down there the right time of year.

I've been to Boca Grande too and it is a real circus down there. There's also a ton of tarpon fishing done around the bridges of the Fla. Keys (esp. the 7-mile bridge) but never 100 boats in the same channel. Slugman - you like catching drum over tuna? Explain. Is it that they are cheaper and easier to target or do you like the fight better?

We fished in Charlote Harbor for trout and reds and outside the Boca Grande pass for jacks and stuff. Wasn't worth getting rammed to try for a tarpon. Plenty if other "eating" fish around that area. Snook are also a lot of fun and can be hard to fool. I've fished Marathon and the Lower Keys but never Islamorada. Maybe I'll have to put it on my to-do list. If I had my choice, though, I would keep going to the Abaco out islands of the NE Bahamas. Lots of fish, gin-clear water and great reefs all over the place. Plus - very laid back.
