Seahonk, we just went fishing North of the San Francisco area in Bodega Bay. I caught more cod than I knew what to do with. Actually I caught a limit for the captain and another guy who wasn't so seaworthy if you know what I mean. I only caught one keeper ling cod, but there were quite a few others caught around me. I just pulled up a few other giant rock cods instead, darn. On the way back in we picked up crab pots so I went home with 4 Dungennous(sp) crabs as well.

Wow, I'm sorry for the extremely slow response. To tell you the truth I haven't scrolled down this far in a while, whoops.
We went off a sport fishing boat and just pulled their pots. They were nothing special, just a pot with two entries for crabs and no exits <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>. We used the head and entrails from the days catch to rebait each pot. I wish we could have gone back the next time to pick up the pots because we really loaded up each pot with bait, at least double that which was there previously. The crabbing just requires a basic fishing license.
It would be great to bring in a couple of halibut. You wouldn't catch me in a kayak out there, but it still would be fun to fish. I have enough problems rolling out of my buddy's playboat kayak in shallow water! Or even in a practice pool! Alright I know sea kayaking is totally different, but no thanks anyway. yikes.
