Default Keeping lures/tackle from rusting

Is there anything I can spray on my saltwater tackle to keep it from rusting? WD-40 or something else designed for this purpose? Thanks.

Try silicone, Cabella's has it in it's food section I get mine from the sausagemaker. It's food grade and doesn't smell. although some people say WD40 attracts fish.

silicone or petroleum jelly also works. but i use the plastic boxes in all my freshwater and saltwer bags and as soon as im done fishing instead of just closing them and chuckin them in the closet or truck i open all the containers i used that day and let them dry out. alot of times you will have moisture left on a lure and when you close the boxes up bam instant rust.

just noticed you said Saltwater. In that case rinse them off and let them dry before storing or spraying. The salt is whats causing your troubles. Always hose down your rods, reels and tackle after a day on the water. Otherwise you'll be buying new stuff way to often.
