7Mag--Hornady Interbond
 

I just bought a 7Mag & plan on using it for elk this year. I've used Hornady bullets for years out of my 30/06-------so I was planning on sticking with Hornady. I was thinking of the new 154 grain "Interbond" bullet. Anyone tried these yet? Also what powder gives the best accuracy out of your 7Mag?

I have tried these Interbond bullets in a couple of rifles so far and not gotten very good groups. If your rifle doesn't like them, the Swift Scirocco and Nosler Accubond are both very good bonded bullets. Although it doesn't produce the highest velocity, IMR 4350 has produced some of the best groups for me in the 7 Rem Mag. IMR 4831 is also good, as well as RL 19.

I reloaded a 7mm Rem. mag for a friend and he shot a 1/2" group at 100 yards with IMR 4831 and 150gr Nosler partitions. The Barnes x bullets would be a good choice for elk also.

I'm shooting the new Hornady Retumbo with the 140 gr nosler accubond for Whitetail and they group tight. Getting 70 '/sec faster MV with 74gr Retumbo than either 4350 or 4831. the 160 grainers should be an Elk's worst nightmare. Regards , Rick.

What brand rifle is yours,and do you know what the barrel twist is? I have shot the 154gr & 139gr. hornady bullets for yrs and work good in mine. But all guns are different as are barrels. vangunsmith

I used 139 gr IBs in my 7mmRUM last year. I had them really revved up (around 3600fps), they shot great and worked better than expected on the buck I shot. I bought two more boxes (7mm 154gr and 30 cal 165gr) to load up for this years season in my 7mmRUM and 300 WBY.
