How do you know when you are done UPDATE!!!!
Ok, went to the range today to retest some of my "accurate" loads. My 7mm rem mag, has been grouping fairly well (~.75-1") with 66.5 gr of RL 22 and 140 B/T's. so I loaded up 5 more (this was the third time Ive tested this load) and shot all 5 and got a .9" group out of all 5 shots... am I done??? Should I call it quits on the testing thing, since this is primarily a "hunting" gun?

RE: How do you know when you are done ???
Practically speaking, YES . . . . Until you shoot some game with these loads - at which point you might not be satisfied with the terminal performance of the bullet. But if you really like to tinker with loads, you will probably keep experimenting and find excuses for the continuation :>)

Mossy, close enough-- Man, are you a bench rest hunter?
Heck, If you can get it that close, you can go hunting with us anytime! Close enough is close enough.IF I get them in a butter cup @ 200yds It's ready time!I reduce the kill zone from 8" to 4".I am not trying to shoot it in the eye. |

Should I call it quits on the testing thing, since this is primarily a "hunting" gun? Is it good enough? That's entirely up to you. If you like to tinker around with it there is no reason to quit trying different bullets and powders, or you can use the time to do some fishing. A man's gotta have some hobbies:D |
RE: How do you know when you are done ???
I tend to keep loading and shooting - it's part of the fun of shooting.

RE: How do you know when you are done ???
well I guess I answered my own question....I went groundhog hunting toady with the reloads, and I shot twice and killed 2. One was at ~ 140 yrds, and the other was at 150. Both shots were perfectly placed in the head, (well, what was left of the head) man......I dont think a 140 BT is probably the best varmit load, unless you like cherry jello :D
