Nosler Accubond vs Hornady Innerbond?
How do these two bullets compare? Anyone try both of them? What did you find out?
Thanks, Ed |
RE: Nosler Accubond vs Hornady Innerbond?
I have had wonderful luck out of the Accubond. It has been my goto bullet. Benefits of a Ballistic Tip with the penetration of a Partition. Haven't got to shoot anything over a deer yet however.
I passed on the Hornadys. I know I should take what I see on the internet and mag to heart, but it seems to behave more like a Scirroco. And I hate hornadys customer service. So Nosler it is. |

I tried the Interbonds in .270 and .308 caliber, and couldn't get them to shoot as well as the Accubonds or Sciroccos. 2 MOA was about the best they would group.

Bigcountry - just curious . . . you seem to imply that there is something undesireable about the performance of the Sciroccos. What might that be? This is one of the best all around bullets I have ever used.

Builds pressure so much quicker in my 300RUM 180g. I could shoot all my 180gr bullets up to 96gr of H1000 no problem. But the swift bullet showed extactor markes at 95.5gr. Almost acted like a TBBC. Also it was a very hard bullet for me to get shooting well. I had heard several other complains also about the same, so I came to the conclusion I didn't like it.
Also, saw several reports showing that bullet pancaked more than I would want down the shank. Even Swift said it would perform better on deer or mule deer than moose. I wouldn't however mind using a accubond on moose or elk. It tends to behave like a partition which I have used on moose. |

You go thru 60 reloads and still can't get a bullet to shoot in a known accurate gun, you tend to get a sour feeling about them.

Specialed, You need to try them on penetration barriers.
Set up wet catlogues sandwiched with either 1x6's or 2x6 boards at 100yds,150yds and 200yds and see how the bullets you have in question, will perform. That's your best answer. |

Funny how that accuracy thing can get a bullet moved to the back row of the bullet cabinet without even trying it on game . . . . I did the same thing with the Hornady Interbond. Accubond was about the tightest shooting bullet I tried out of my .270 Ackley - would shoot around 1/2" - most other loads (except the Interbond) were around 3/4". I shot one elk with the Accubond - broadside at about 275 yards. It staggered about 35 yards and fell over dead. However, the 140 Accubond made the classic "turnip" shaped wound channel - like the Nosler partition - big hole through the ribs, then a small hole through the lungs. The 130 Scirocco's make a small hole through the ribs and a big hole through the lungs. They both work . . . the Scirocco's just put them on the ground quicker. At least in the .270 at this velocity.

Roskoe, don't you know that a .270 will not kill and elk!
. . . . . . .lol Just kidding. |

Sorry - forgot about the recent "education" I have gotten on that subject, courtesy of this board. I remember being in a gun shop in Granby, Colorado about 15 years ago - this subject came up and got hotly debated. I thought for awhile a fight was going to break out . . .
