If your getting shavings, your expander ball is a little small. Some of my dies do it. For example on my 308 RCBS, I got bad shavings every time. I measured the expander ball and it was .306". RCBS sent me one that was .307" and no more shavings.

funny part is.....I only get them on 85 gr BT's in my 25-06, the 115's dont do it.....I dunno Ill keep doing it, its not that time consuming

Another option is to use a Lyman M die to open the front edge of the neck a tiny bit to let the bullet slide past the mouth without scratching it.
