RE: 25-06
herman,
yeah i think you will be pleased with the 4350, a wise old man told me, anytime you are trying new loads for any of the 06 casing guns, to start with 4350. I try 4350 with different grains, then if not satisfied I play with seating depths, then with primers, then if all else fails then I go to another powder. Dont know why but it seems that the 25-06, 270,280 and 30-06 all like that powder. |
RE: 25-06
I really didn't get the 25/06 barrel to hunt with just had in mind to try that caliber to see how the encore shot with a reg rifle caliber, and I don't have that caliber, but the more I read about the 25/06 the more I am interested in hunting with it too.As to suggestions I picked up a box of sierra 100 gr,hornady sst 117 gr and hornady 120 bthp. Was told that the hornady 120 bthp was an excellant bullet for hunting, does anyone know?I saw that sierra has one too are these bthp that good for hunting? No more than I shot yesterday the 120 hornady shot the best, the sst 117 was not good but was probably the type and amount of powder I tried,I have got them to shoot very well and took a lot of deer with them since they came out with the sst in different calibers.
Want to try the barnes tsx too, tried them in my 270wsm yesterday and they shot like my match bullets @100 yds and would say that the encore barrel was twice as hard to clean as the 270 using the tsx.Noticed they come in 100 and 115 grs which do you think would be better for deer and hogs? Thanks for all the info, with all your help I may get this encore to driving very small tacks. |
