Fire forming 22-250
 

I have a lot of new 22-250 brass that I want to fire form in my 700 , but don't want waste a bunch of lead. At one time I heard about useing cotton
and bullseye to do the job??
Can any one shed some light on this?

There is no reason to fire form this round unless you have a rifle that has been worked over. If that is the case then you need to waist lead to get a propper fire formed case.

Thank you for your input. The only reason I like to fire form new brass is
I use Nosler 55gr, B.Tips in my 700 and they seem to have a tighter group after the brass has been shot once then just neck. sized I think
I am going to take the time to compare the before and after effects.

I would think that trying a method like Bullseye and a wad would be more hassle than just loading up the brass as normal and shooting them. So your groups aren't perfect, but the cost of .224cal bullets is very low, and using loaded ammo will assure that the case is, in fact, fireformed properly.

I can understand the logic of the Bullseye method when forming the large capacity, over bored cases that take a lot of powder and expensive bullets. But the 22-250 doesn't have either problem.
